1) Dividing by zero would make the function undefined, so you need to find 2y^2 + 6y + 2 = 0, so just factor it out.

y = 1/2 (-3 -+ sqrt(5))

Although that's a bit complicated compared to the rest of the questions. Are you sure you typed it right?

2) Just substitute!

2x-3

x^2-4x+1

when x=-4

2(-4) - 3

(-4)(-4) - 4(-4) + 1

-8 - 3

16 - -16 + 1

-11

33

y = -1/3

3) Again, substitute:

(-4)(-4) + 6

(-4)(-4) - 3(-4) - 10

16 + 6

-16 - -12 - 10

22

-14

y = -11/7

don't know about the first one, but for the second two just plug in -4 where ever you see an x. so the second is:

2(-4)-3

(-4)^2-4(-4)+1

then solve
