I don't know if it helps if I tell you that hedgehogs are totally harmless. I have found them on several occasions in the woods, and when you approach them, they just roll themselves into a ball and wait for you to go away. They won't try to bite even if you pick them up, which I wouldn't advise because they are prickly and usually crawling with fleas and ticks.
take a stick and then get it on it's back --- then tickle it's belly

A proven therapy is "flooding".
This involves placing yourself in a situation full of your phobic object (the hedgehogs). After a period of initial terror, it will slowly sink in (maybe over hours) that you are not being harmed and are not likely to be harmed. Eventually you can approach, even handle the critters. It could help if someone else is with you to go first.
