The second car is still going to it keeps it's speed.

In this case we will want to use the equation: x= Vo*t + 1/2*a*t^2

x being distance, Vo being the initial velocity, a for acceleration, and t for time.

For the first car the equation would be:

x= 35*t + 1/2* (-5)*t^2

The second equation for car 2 would be:

x=35*t -6 (minus six because it is 6 meters behind)

When the cars collide, the distance will then equal each other.

1/2*-5*t^2 +35t = 35t-6, solve for t and get:

t = 2*(15)^(1/2)/5 = 1.55 secs.
