pipe A fills a 500 liter tank in 2hours 15 minutes pipe B fills a 200 liter tank in 1 hour 30 minutes..which pipe flows faster?

and

alfred washes 24 2'x4' windows in 30 minutes, bob washes 24 3'x5' windows in 40 minutes. who is faster per each sq. foot wash? what is the ratio of alfreds washing rate to Bobs?

lets talk about the 2nd (pipe) question.

First you need to choose your metric. Looking a this problem - it looks like measuring the number of liter per hour is the easiest method.

Do pipe A fills a 500 liter tank in 2.25 hours (catch what I just did with time?) - so how would you determine the liters/hour for Pipe A? if you said divide 500 by 2.25 - YAY team.

do the same with pipe B - what did you get?

you have a 500 liter tank and a 200 liter tank. Look at the times for each. If I doubled the time for the 200 liter tank (meaning I would fill 400 liters) that takes 3 hours- which is more than the time to fill a 500 liter tank- so which is faster?
