You don't actualy need English to do chemistry. However, if you want to continue beyond A level, English is such a fundmental qualification that you may find entrance to university to read pharmacy is much more difficult if you are lacking this basic skill.
You need to find out what is going wrong with your English by discussing it with your English teacher, tutor or careers advisor. Thousands pass this every year: if you are bright enough to do chemistry, this shouldn't be too big a hurdle to get over. Most people will accept Chem is harder than English. I certainly wouldn't advise letting the English go, rather to work more on it and sort your problems. Do you enjoy reading novels in English? Anything like that can help. As I said, try asking your English teacher about your problems and what he/she suggests.
