In French, should the word "Francais" be capitalized in the middle of a sentence?

It depends on what your ''Français'' refers to.

If it refers to THE French as a people, then yes. E.g.: Les Français boivent beaucoup de vin = The French drink a lot of wine.

If it is referring to anything else, then no, that is nationality, something ''French'' or the French language.

Only if you're talking about somebody who lives in France. Not when you're talking about the French language.
