If two cars were travelling at the same speed me in one and my brother in the other, if i open the window, and throw a ball to my brother, will it hit the back of the travelling car or get to my brother, please explain.

If you are travelling side by side then the ball will get to your brother, because when you are holding the ball (before you throw it) it has the same velocity as the car. When you throw it you are simply adding to that velocity. If the velocities of your cars are the same then throwing the ball while driving would be the same as throwing the ball while being still.
In other words, because the velocities are the same they cancel each other out in relation to the ball.
However, the faster you are driving the more the drag of the air will affect the ball and slow it down.
