Think of reciprocal as meaning " the opposite".

If you want the reciprocal of 2... Think about two as an irrational number/ fraction. The fractional form of 2 is 2/ 1. So the opposite of 2/1 is the fraction flipped over, which is 1/2.

And so 1/2 would be your answer.

1 / 100 is the reciprocal of 100. 1 / x is the reciprocal of x. 1 divided by any number except zero is the reciprocal of that number.

The reciprocal of a number n is that number that, when multiplied by n, yields the multiplicative identity (1).
