How many moles of carbon monoxide are produced when 40.0g of oxygen react completely in the following equation?

2C + O2 ---> 2CO

Could someone explain this to me?

ok so you know that you have 40.0 g of oxygen

so then convert 40.0 g of o2 into moles by dividing my molecular weight

then you have moles of o2

now use the ratio of moles of o2 to moles of co. you have twice as many moles of co as o2 so mulitply by 2

yor answer should be like: 40/16*2= 5 moles
