No. they gnaw. these are omnivores and usually feed on larvae,
insects,and various roots and vegetation.
like many insects, they can bite,human skin,but is uncommon.

Anything with a mouth, bites. That does not mean they break the skin or are able to cause any damage.
No, but their back legs are very scratchy so if you pick one up it may feel like it is biting you.
