if the force of attraction between two objects is 20 newtons when the objects are 4 meters apart, what is the force of attraction if the distance between charges changes to 8 meters?
20/(8/4)^2 = 20/4 = 5 Newtons? I'm not sure could you please explain in detail? Thank you!

The force of gravity between two masses is inversely proportional to the distance between the bodies SQUARED.
G*m1*m2/4^2 = 20 => G*m1*m2 = 320
Now substitute in 8meters as the distance in the denominator:
G*m1*m2/8^2 = 320/8^2 = 5N so you are CORRECT
Notice that the distance is doubled and the force is 1/4 what it was and NOT 1/2
